Taking on a minimalist life style – Part One –

My Husband and I have talked about this for almost a year now. In the beginning I though it a bit of a joke, but the more we talked and the more I read about it, the more appealing it has and is becoming.

So, we are on the move again. And this would seem the perfect time to jump into this with both feet. We have about 4 months to go before we move, so have been slowly getting rid of stuff that we do not use. Started off by actually going through our clothing cupboard and just getting all that stuff “Yea, I am going to fit into that again one day” and stuff with a little bit of sentiment stench to it..you know…ended up with 4 big bags of things we do not use and binned it in one of those clothing charity containers down the road. Wow…it feels good ! Already our room seems less cluttered. And so it has begun. Really thought this was going to be hard, but getting rid of all that luggage we schlep around kinda frees the mind man!

As I love to read, my Husband got me a Kindle last year for my birthday. Now this is a very handy little minimalist device for me who loves to have books. I have had the Kindle now for the last year and it did feel a bit strange in the beginning not to hold a book, but now it feels strange to hold a book.

So out with all the books we do have …and honestly, when are we going to read them again ???? I will however be keeping one book that I absolutely love to bits. Have read it like 3 times already and just love the story. And the rest of the books are gonna go. Dunno where yet…thinking about giving it away, but we are sitting in Germany and not that many people read English books here. Thought about posting to family, but that is just going to cost a ton. Then maybe Ebay will work, or some second hand book shop will take it from us…have to get on to it. Time stands still for no man!
